Lily’s dissatisfaction grew, but he forced a smile and said, “Nathan, why be so formal with Emma? Our families have a good relationship, and your impending marriage with Emma… why keep your distance?”
Nathan said, “Haven’t I always addressed her like this before?”
He had never called Emma by her name.
Lily was speechless.
Emma and Roland were also displeased.
Emily couldn’t help but scolded angrily, “What kind of attitude is this? Emma is so understanding. Why treat her like this? Is it so difficult to call her by her name?”
Even though she understood her son’s indifference, she expected him to be more understanding of today’s situation.

Her compliant and understanding demeanor further exacerbated Emily’s frustration with her son.
She couldn’t understand why he was dissatisfied with Emma.

“Mom, Dad, please eat,” Emma said as she served her parents, signaling with her eyes for them to remain calm.
Roland and Lily understood her message and swallowed their dissatisfaction.
“Nate, have some more,” Lily said, smiling at Nathan.
Nathan was less impatient with the elders, so he nodded.
But he remained silent.
