Olivia chuckled softly, “Don’t worry, it’s all in the past now?
Since that fateful night, she had cut all ties with the Carter family, and there would be no significant connection with them in the future.
King observed her quietly, noticing that her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes.
He knew her well enough to understand that she was putting up a brave front.
Internally distressed, she plastered on a smile to shield her loved ones from her inner turmoil.

King felt a surge of anger towards the Carter family. His voice was firm as he spoke in the car, “Olivia, you’re a part of Horizon Ventures now. Whatever happens, remember that Horizon Ventures stands by you… As for the Carter family, they’ve mistreated my woman, and I won’t stand it!”
Olivia was momentarily surprised by King’s declaration but smiled in gratitude, “Thank you, I appreciate it.”
King’s words touched her deeply, but she chose not to dwell on the implications of his words ‘my woman, interpreting them simply as ‘you’re part of my company!
In the front seat, Benjamin couldn’t help but cast a fleeting glance at King in the rearview mirror, his brows furrowed in thought.
Perhaps he was reading too much into it.
Surely, King didn’t mean it in that way!
Twenty minutes later, Benjamin dropped Lucas and King off at their residence before proceeding to Olivia’s home.
Upon arriving, Liam appeared visibly upset.
Olivia sensed that Emily and Emma’s words had affected him deeply.
Taking his hand, she asked gently, “What’s wrong? Are you still thinking about what happened earlier?”
Liam nodded, his confusion evident. “Mommy, why is it so hard for adults to resolve their conflicts? When we children have disagreements, a simple apology usually fixes everything! Did I cause trouble by running back to find Daddy earlier? Why did Daddy’s mother scold you like that? Why was she so harsh? I want to protect you and not let anyone insult you.”
Olivia was momentarily rendered speechless, deeply touched by Liam’s words.
She realized that her son must have been feeling guilty as well!
But Olivia didn’t hold any blame towards him.
Liam was unaware of the full extent of the situation.
She reassured him, “It’s okay. I’m strong, and no one can bully me!”

Suddenly, he stopped and apologized again, “I’m sorry, Mommy, I won’t bring up matters about Daddy anymore in the future.”
Olivia felt heartbroken after hearing this. She gently rubbed Liam’s little head and said, “It’s okay, Liam. It’s okay to miss your daddy… yearning for fatherly love is a right every child has, and you are no exception.”
After hearing this, Liam seemed somewhat doubtful. “Can I really…?”
“I think so,” Olivia replied softly.
But in the end, perhaps he won’t receive anything.
Olivia couldn’t bring herself to say it.
On one hand, she couldn’t bear to see Liam getting hurt, but on the other hand, the situation had become too complicated to untangle.
There was nothing she could do except let things unfold naturally.
Liam felt a spark of hope flicker in his eyes.
So Mommy doesn’t want to keep me away from Daddy after all!
Mommy truly is the best mother in the world.
If that old witch doesn’t allow it, can I secretly contact Daddy and start building a relationship with him?

Later, after Olivia showered Liam and tucked him into bed, she returned to her room to freshen up.
Meanwhile, Liam took out his phone, quickly added Nathan’s WhatsApp, and then lay back on the bed, eagerly anticipating a reply.
In Beverly Hills, Nathan stood by the expansive floor–to–ceiling window, a glass of wine in hand, his face etched with unease.
Since their return from the restaurant, his demeanor had soured, his countenance growing colder and somber.
Ethan stood a few steps behind, sensing the tension but compelled to deliver his report. “Mr. Carter, the company experienced a cyber–attack earlier today. Our technical team traced it back to Emberfall but couldn’t pinpoint the exact location.”
Nathan’s brow furrowed with displeasure. “Is this the level of competence we can expect from our technical department?”
Under the CEO’s intense gaze, Ethan felt a bead of sweat forming on his forehead. “The hackers‘ skills are incredibly advanced, sir. We’re virtually defenseless against them.”
