Reluctantly, Olivia pushed down her emotions, stifled her tears, took a moment to gather herself, reapplied her makeup, concealed the mark of the slap on her face, and then left the bathroom.
Outside the bathroom, King and Lucas awaited her.
The two had waited anxiously for Olivia, their concern mounting with each passing moment.
As she emerged, they approached with worry etched on their faces, bombarding her with questions, “Why were you gone so long? Is everything okay? Why are your eyes red?”
“It’s nothing serious, just feeling a bit unwell from a drink, but I’ll be fine,” Olivia replied nonchalantly, trying to maintain a facade of normalcy.
King eyed her suspiciously, sensing something amiss.
Olivia turned away, avoiding his gaze, and asked, “Are you planning to stay for another drink, or are we leaving?”
“I’m done here. Those people aren’t worth my time,” King responded dismissively.
Olivia nodded in agreement.
Shortly after, the trio exited the club.

It must have been a mere coincidence!
With that thought, Lucas redirected his focus and turned to King, “Are you sure you’re alright after drinking so much today? Why not come back with me tonight? There are attendants at home who can look after you.”
King regarded Lucas with disdain, “Do you think I’m feeble? I’m perfectly fine.”
Lucas hesitated briefly, “I’m just worried about you, that’s all…”
“There’s no need. I won’t perish,” King responded indifferently before turning to Olivia, “Let’s go. I’ll escort you home first.”
Olivia nodded in agreement.
A soft, tranquil glow in the dwelling suffused the room, lighting the scene gently. In the bed lay a small figure, its breathing steady and rhythmic.
Olivia settled beside the bed, her gaze fixed upon the face that bore an uncanny resemblance to Nathan’s, stirring a multitude of emotions within her.
Throughout the night, she wrestled with a splitting headache and insomnia, finding sleep elusive despite her efforts.
