An elegant–looking woman dressed very beautifully walked over and took Sandra’s hand excitedly. “You must be Sandra! Zachary mentions you all the time. I finally get to meet you today. You are indeed extraordinary, my dear.”
Sandra replied timidly, “Hello, Mrs. Lawrence.”
Zachary tugged her arm awkwardly. “She isn’t my mother. That’s our housekeeper, Amelia.”
Sandra suddenly felt a little embarrassed. She was just about to feel better, but back to feeling extremely nervous again.

Chapter 21
The housekeeper, Amelia Nightingale, led them to the dining hall, passing by many long walkways. There was a group of people sitting in the dining hall. Everyone there seemed extraordinary.
The person sitting in the middle was Zachary’s mother. She looked much younger than her age. Her face, hands, and skin were fair and glowing, not showing her age at all. People would believe her to be Zachary’s sister.
She sat in the middle quietly and dignified, carrying the aura of the hostess of a huge family.
Sandra was seated at the side of the dining table. She saw Mike and Irene, smiling and waving at her.
Zachary held Sandra’s hand and sat next to his mother. He greeted the elders at the table one by one.
During the conversation, Sandra learned that Zachary had an elder brother who inherited the family business and was on a business trip in South America with his father, and could not be there that day.
Although they were not there, they sent their gifts too.
Zachary’s mother, Nancy Lawrence, prepared a green jade bracelet, one that was more valuable than the one previously presented by Keith’s family.
It was flawless.
Zachary’s eldest brother presented her with a transparent and dazzling pearl necklace.
Mike and Irene smiled in satisfaction, their faces filled with happiness.
Nancy took Sandra’s hand and asked, “Ms. Hudson, can I call you Sandra?”
Sandra nodded politely.
Nancy continued, “Zachary has been a trouble maker since he was a child. While we were still worrying about his future, he suddenly got wiser one day. Not only did he study hard, he also got admitted into the top scientific research team in the country. The Lawrence family has produced all kinds of talents, but never a scientist. Now, we’re about to have two scientists in the family.
“I really want to thank you, Sandra. It’s you who made Zachary to be such an outstanding person. It’s really his blessing to be able to marry you.”
Nancy was gentle, humble and polite. Sandra’s concerns were swept away completely.
Zachary leaned close to her ear and whispered, “I told you, my mother really likes you.”
“I took the liberty of calling your parents here to discuss your marriage today. After all, I heard from Zachary that you’ll be returning to the team in half a year’s time.”
Sandra hesitated a little.
She caught a glimpse of Mike and Irene. She really did not want to have anything to do with them.
Sandra did not say anything at that moment. However, after the dinner, when Nancy took her back to her room, Sandra told her everything she had experienced.
Nancy was furious. “How could they call themselves parents? I know what to do, Sandra. Don’t worry. Here in the Lawrence family, I’ll protect you and never allow you to suffer any grievances again.”
