“Go! Get the groom here. I want to know why the parents of the bride can’t attend the wedding.”
Hearing the commotion, Amelia came over with a dozen bodyguards in black suits. “Hello, Mr. Hudson.” Mike shouted at Amelia, ensuring the friends and family behind him could hear him. “Look, we had dinner together at Lawrence residence before. There must be a misunderstanding.”
Amelia adjusted her gold–rimmed glasses, smiled and said, “Mr. Hudson, Ms. Hudson doesn’t recognize your father–daughter relationship, so naturally, Mrs. Lawrence won’t recognize your relationship with us.
“It’s embarrassing for both of us if you create a scene here. We are all well–known people. It’s not good to embarrass yourselves. Please leave.”
Mike refused to give up, choking as he spoke. Irene was wiping her tears as well.
“Sandra’s getting married and she doesn’t have any family members by her side. If we tell others about it, people will laugh at her.”
Amelia sneered, “Who says that she doesn’t have any family members? The table of her family members is fully occupied. However, Ms. Hudson says that her family members have no blood relationship with her. They’re all people who helped her grow. Sometimes, blood relationships aren’t reliable.”
Irene saw their own housekeeper, Janet, being welcomed in by the receptionist, but her own daughter did not let her attend her wedding.
Amelia had heard about Sandra’s experience from Nancy, so she obviously took Sandra’s side. She looked down on such a cowardly set of parents like Mike and Irene.
Amelia gave the bodyguards a nod, and they lined up in front of her.
“Mr. and Mrs. Hudson, there are still many things I have to attend to inside, so I’ll leave now.”
The friends and relatives of the Hudson family next to them were in discussion. They all knew Mike for decades.
“I thought we found a big supporter. Who would’ve known that Sandra doesn’t recognize us as family anymore?”
Someone who knew the whole story added, “It’s all Mike’s fault!”
“Let’s go. Although the Hudson family isn’t a small family, we can’t stand such ill treatment.”
The discussion of the crowd broke Mike as he collapsed backward. Irene tried to help him in a panic, but she was not strong enough.
“Mike, Mike…”
Mike suffered cerebral hemorrhage and was sent to the hospital. It was only after the wedding that Zachary and
Sandra found out about it.
Zachary asked Sandra softly, “Are you really not going to visit him?”
Sandra shook her head. “No.”
She looked up and asked Zachary, “Do you think I’m cruel?
Zachary stroked her hair. “No. If I went through what you did, perhaps I would do something even worse.”
