Danny let out a hollow laugh, teetering between anger and delusion. “Paige, I knew you were jealous. You’re just throwing a tantrum–I get it. You can be tough, but I’ve always been able to win you back…”
He shoved Mia aside. “Mia has nothing to do with me!”
She hit the ground hard, her face going ghostly pale.
I couldn’t help but smile faintly. Karma’s funny like that.
Before either of them could speak again, the tense silence shattered. A car horn blared from the shadows–a sleek Maybach idling nearby.
My smile widened as I turned and walked away.
Danny suddenly grabbed my wrist in a crushing grip. “Who is he? You’ve been with him all along, haven’t you? I saw you get into that car before, didn’t I?”
“Whoas he? You’ve been with him all along, haven’t you? I
His teeth clenched, his whole body shaking with fury. “I get it now. You’ve been so desperate to leave me because you found someone else.

I couldn’t take it anymore. My hand snapped across his face Twice.
Danny’s pupils shrank as he stumbled, stunned. His lips parted like he was about to say something, but instead, he charged toward Hugh’s car. He kicked the door hard, making it jolt. “Get out here! What right do you have to take my girl?”
The car door opened smoothly, and Hugh stepped out, calm as ever. His sharp gaze locked onto Danny.
“Danny Wagner,” he said, “what did you just say?”

Danny froze at the sight of his cousin. His face twitched, his confidence cracking. “Hugh… you and Paige…?” Hugh raised an eyebrow. “Hmm?”
Danny mistook it for denial and broke into a smug smile. “knew it. No way you’d be with Paige-”
“Be respectful,” Hugh cut in. “She’s my wife. And about the car? We’ll settle it through insurance.”
