The Final Gift
Scarlett’s POV:
I watched from above as Lucian stared at my lifeless body, his entire world crumbling around him. The powerful Alpha I’d known was gone, replaced by a broken man whose hands shook as he reached for me.
“No,” he whispered, gathering my cold form into his arms. “No, no, no…”
His fingers traced the black veins on my skin, evidence of the curse that had finally claimed my life. Each touch grew more desperate as reality sank in.
“Wake up,” he begged, his voice cracking. “Please wake up, Lottie. I’m here now. I found you.”

can’t be dead,” he pleaded, rocking my body gently. “We have so much left to do. So many things I need to tell you.”
Bobby whined beside us, his tail drooping as he watched Lucian’s breakdown.
“Remember our promises?” Lucian’s voice was hoarse from crying, “We were going to travel the world. together. Visit all those places you dreamed about.”
His tears fell on my face as he spoke, but couldn’t warm my cold skin.
Each word was like a knife in his heart, memories of futures we’d never have.
“I’ll take you anywhere you want,” he promised. “Just open your eyes. Please, my love. Just look at me one more time.”
Π
Bobby gently headbutted Lucian’s arm, trying to offer comfort. But Lucian was lost in his grief.
“You can’t leave me,” his voice broke completely. “I don’t know how to live in a world without you in it.”
He pressed his forehead to mine, his whole body shaking
“I’ll do anything,” he vowed. “I’ll spend every cent I have. I’ll find the most powerful witches, the oldest magic. Whatever it takes to bring you back.”
The cave echoed with his desperate promises, each one more impossible than the last.
“I would give up everything I have right now just to have you come back to me, little Lottie, please come back to me. “His tears of despair fell, drop by drop, on my pale face.
Bobby suddenly moved closer to my body, his nose nudging at something clutched in my cold hands- his old collar.
With gentle teeth, he extracted a folded paper I’d hidden there. The letter I’d written in my final
moments.
“What’s this?” Lucian whispered as Bobby dropped the paper in his lap.
His hands trembled so violently he could barely unfold it. When he recognized my handwriting, a broken sound escaped his throat.

“My dearest Lucian,” he read aloud, voice shaking on tach word,
“By the time you read this, I’ll be gone. I can feel death coming closer with each breath. The curse has finally won, and I can’t continue to be by your side anymore.”
Fresh tears splashed onto the paper, making the Ink run.
“You need to take care of yourself now. Remember to eat regularly not just when Mary reminds you. Try to sleep more than four hours a night. The pack needs you strong.”
A bitter laugh escaped him. Even in death, I was still trying to care for him.
“I want you to know that I truly love you. I always have, from the moment you first smiled at me when we were children. Even now, knowing how things end, I don’t regret a single moment of loving you.”
His whole body shook as he continued reading.
“But I’m selfish, Lucian. Every time I saw you with her every time you chose her over me, my heart broke a little more. The curse fed on my pain, growing stronger with each betrayal.‘
Understanding dawned in his eyes, followed quickly by horror.
Even though you don’t love me now, and you’re in love with someone else, I don’t regret that I saved your life that day. If I hadn’t saved you that day, I wouldn’t have been able to be your wife. These five years as your Luna have been the happiest of my life. But falling in love with you…… was too painful. This pain is heartbreaking and unbearable for me.
Bobby pressed against Lucian’s side as he struggled to read through his tears.
“If I’m granted another life, I pray to the Moon Goddess that I won’t love you in it. Not because you don’t deserve love you do, more than anyone. But because loving you has killed me twice: first my heart, then my body.”
“Forever yours, even in death, Scarlett.”
The letter paper slipped from his trembling fingers, and he clutched his head as he howled in agony, I’m sorry, Scarlett, I’m sorry.
Suddenly, he seemed to look up as if he’d had a moment of realization, as if he’d thought of something.
“How?” he whispered, looking at my peaceful face. “How did you know about Lily? You don’t have a wolf
you couldn’t have sensed…”
His voice trailed off as something caught his eye. Beside my body sat a simple wooden box, weathered by time and elements.
Through our bond, I felt his confusion and dread as he stared at it.
“What is this?” he murmured, reaching for the box with shaking hands. “What else have you left for me, my love?”
“He certainly didn’t realize that I was actually face–to–face with him at this point, and as I stared at his movements and pressed myself against him, my anticipation grew.
