The Price of Resurrection
Scarlett’s POV:
Lucian’s descent into madness was swift and complete I watched as he traveled the world, seeking any witch who might know how to bring me back.
Money meant nothing to him anymore. He spent fortunes on ancient artifacts, rare ingredients, and magical consultations.
The pack began to suffer from his neglect, Important decisions went unmade as he chased resurrection dreams across continents.
“Alpha,” Nathan would plead, “the pack needs you
“The pack needs its Luna,” Lucian would snap before disappearing again.
I followed him as he visited witch after witch, each one offering false hope in exchange for gold.
Some tried blood magic. Others attempted soul binding. A few even claimed they could bargain with death itself.
Nothing worked. My body remained perfectly preserved in its crystal coffin, but just as lifeless as before. My soul still drifted around him, and each time I pressed myself against the sorcerer’s face, hoping to be discovered by the sorcerer so that he could find a way to unbind me from Lucian.
Still, Lucian wouldn’t give up. His eyes grew more haunted with each failure, his grip on reality loosening further.
“Ninety–eight witches,” he muttered as we approached the latest one. “Ninety–eight failures.” The ninety–ninth witch Helena lived in a remote mountain cave. Unlike the others, she didn’t seem impressed by Lucian’s wealth or status.
“Another Alpha seeking to undo death,” she said when we entered. “How tedious. She is dead, why revive her?“!
Through our bond, I felt Lucian’s desperation spike. “I just want to apologize to her when she wakes up. Can you help me or not?”
Helena studied him with ancient eyes. “Perhaps, But the price is steep.”
“I’ll pay anything,” Lucian said immediately. “Name your sum.”
The witch laughed coldly. “I don’t want your money, wolf. The price for resurrection is power.”
Interest flickered in Lucian’s dead eyes. “What kind of power?”
“Your Alpha power,” Helena said simply. “All of it. Transferred to her body to restore her life force.”
I watched carefully for his reaction. Surely he wouldn’t give up his precious Alpha status, the position he’d worked so hard to achieve-
“Done,” Lucian said without hesitation. “Take it. Take everything.”

Through our bond, I felt only certainty. No reluctance no doubt.

How ironie. The man who had betrayed me, who had thrown away our love for power and revenge, was now willing to sacrifice everything to bring me back.
“You understand what this means?” Helena pressed. “You’ll be nothing. Less than a beta. Barely more than an omega.”
“I don’t care,” Lucian’s voice was finn. “Just bring her back to me.”
The witch began preparing the ritual immediately. Black candles formed a circle around my crystal coffin as she chanted in an ancient tongue.
“Place your hands on the crystal,” she instructed Lucian. “When I give the signal, push every drop of your power into her body.”
Lucian didn’t hesitate. His hands pressed against my coffin as the chanting grew louder.
“Now!” Helena commanded.
Alpha power blazed from Lucian’s body into mine. His face grew paler with each passing moment as his strength drained away.
I watched with cold detachment. This dramatic gesture meant nothing to me now. My love for him had died long before my body.
But something strange began to happen. My spirit form started vibrating, drawn toward my corpse by an inexorable force.
“More!” Helena urged as Lucian swayed on his feet. “Give everything!”
The pull grew stronger. Darkness swallowed me as my spirit was sucked back toward my body.
I found myself in a void, completely alone. But in the distance, a pinprick of white light beckoned.
Having no other choice, I ran toward it. The light grew brighter with each step, until it was almost blinding.
As I burst into the radiance, I found myself face to face with a magnificent white wolf. Her fur glowed with an otherworldly light.A golden moon shape on her forehead.
She smiled, revealing gleaming fangs. “Hello Scarlett, I’ve been waiting a long time to meet you.”
ו יי?
“Who are you?” I tried to ask, but no sound emerged.
“I’m Zoe,” she said, answering my unspoken question “And you’re finally ready.”
Before I could react, she lunged. Her glowing form slammed into me with incredible force.
Pain exploded through my body – my actual body. I gasped, drawing in my first breath in months.
My eyes flew open. The world was a blur of colors and lights that slowly resolved into familiar shapes. “Lottie?” Lucian’s shocked voice came from nearby. “You’re awake?”

I tried to sit up, my muscles protesting after their long dormancy. Every Inch of my body tingled with strange new energy.
Lucian reached for me, but Helena blocked his path with a raised hand.
“Wait,” she commanded. “Let her adjust. The transfer is still settling.”
Transfer. Yes, I could feel it – raw power cousing through my veins. Alpha power. His power.
But there was something else too. Something wild and ancient that had come with the white wolf’s touch.
I looked at my hands, expecting to see the black veins of the curse. But my skin was clear and healthy.
“The curse is gone,” Helena explained. “Burned away by the power transfer and….something else.”
She studied me with narrowed eyes, as if seeing something unexpected.
Lucian swayed on his feet, drained almost to the point of collapse. But his eyes never left my face.
“Lottie,” he whispered. “My Lottie… you’re really back.”
But as I opened my mouth to speak, I felt it – a presence in my mind that hadn’t been there before. A wolf. My wolf.
‘Hello, partner,‘ Zoe’s voice echoed in my thoughts. We have so much to discuss.‘
I wasn’t just back from the dead. I was transformed. Reborn.
And Lucian… Lucian had no idea what he’d actually done by bringing me back.
A smile curved my lips as I felt Zoe’s power merge with the Alpha strength now flowing through my veins. This was going to be interesting.
