Chapter 27%
Upon discovering that Leo was behind it. Ryan wasted no time in contacting his private investigator, who had been assigned to track Leo’s every move…
However, nothing could have prepared him for the shocking revelation that followed!!
Ryan’s jaw tightened as he listened to his private investigator’s report
“You’re telling me Leo isn’t working alone and you missed him several times when he was in contact with that man?” he asked, his voice dangerously low.!!
The private investigator swallowed hard. “Yes, Sir. The only person Leo has been in direct contact with is he’s careful. Too careful until there is no real trace of his identity.”
Ryan’s fingers curled around his whiskey glass as he glanced at the blurred surveillance photos.
The mystery man was always wearing a hat, his face strategically angled away from cameras.
“Who do you think he is?” I asked, leaning closer.
Ryan exhaled sharply. “Whoever he is, he’s been helping Leo all this time. And I don’t forgive traitors.”
Without another word, Ryan issued a new order. “Track him. Find out who he is, what he wants, and where he’s hiding.
The investigator nodded and hung up immediately.
A day later, a call came from the investigator, so Ryan immediately answered it.
But before Ryan could ask anything, a voice crackled through the receiver.
“Ryan,” Leo’s voice drawled, smooth and amused, “did you really think I wouldn’t notice you spying on me all the time?
“I’ve given him countless chances to walk away, yet he relentlessly pursues me, even going so far as to track my own people. So, there’s no more room for mercy”
Ryan’s eyes darkened. His grip on the glass tightened until the ice cracked against the crystal.
“Leo.” His name left Ryan’s mouth like a warning. “What did you do to my man?”
Leo chuckled darkly
“Oh, him?” A pause. “He’s in the graveyard right now.”
My heart stopped as I heard him so indifferent
Leo continued nonchalantly, “Don’t worry, Ryan. I gave him a proper burial.”
Ryan shot up from his seat, knocking his glass over, “You son of a1 ̃1⁄2
“Tsk, tsk, Ryan,” Leo mocked, “getting worked up already? This is just the beginning
I covered my mouth, trying to suppress the rising panic in my chest. While Ryan, still gripping the edge of the table, forced himself to breathe.
“If you touch another one of my people, Leo, I swear..
“Oh, don’t be so dramatic, Ryan,” Leo interrupted with a laugh. “It’s your fault, really. If you hadn’t sent your little spy, he’d still be breathing.”
Ryan’s fingers twitched toward his phone, already considering who to send next.
But then, Leo’s voice turned mockingly sweet. “And if you send another one, I do the exact same thing, or maybe more cruel.
Hahaha.“3
I felt sick. Leo had no remorse and no hesitation, as if he was another person at that moment.
“Oh also, as for the man you’re so desperate to find?” Leo added. “Let me give you some advice.”
Leo’s voice dropped into a sinister whisper. “It’s better if you don’t find out.”
“Why? Because he is afraid I will kill him before I kill you?” Ryan sneered.
A cold shiver ran down my spine as I heard their conversation, as if it was something so dark
Even Leo laughed seemed different. It was a slow, wicked sound that made my stomach twist
“Of course, not. I said this because it will only surprise you to the core, Ryan. It’s beyond your wild imagination. I was even shocked
– when I met him.“”
Ryan’s voice was sharp, each word laced with venom. 1 don’t care, so stop wasting my breath. Since someone who cowers in the shadows, hiding behind others, is no match for me. If you think you’ve won–think again. You never will.”
Leo’s laughter came through the line, slow and mocking. “Oh my, I’m so scared, Ryan. Ha ha ha
Then, his voice dropped into something more calculating. “But what can I do? He said he is even stronger than you.”
Ryan’s eyes narrowed..
Leo continued, dragging out his words like he was savoring every syllable. “What’s really strange though, is that this man.. his face,” He let out a low chuckle. “It resembles yours. Ryan. Almost like a reflection.”
A heavy silence settled over the room.
“So tell me,” Leo mused, “could it be that the person helping me… is you?”
His voice dripped with amusement, as if he were toying with a particularly interesting puzzle. “Or… are you hiding something else, Ryan?”
Ryan’s already heated expression darkened into something even more dangerous. His fists clenched at his sides.
“You dare play games with me, Lea?” His voice was lethal. “I swear, you’ll spend the rest of your life rotting in prison.”
Leo tsk’d, feigning disappointment. “Ah, Ryan. You never change.”

Ryan’s already heated expression darkened into something even more dangerous. His fists clenched at his sides.
“You dare play games with me, Leo? His voice was lethal. “I swear, you’ll spend the rest of your life rotting in prison.”
Leo tsk’d, feigning disappointment “Ah, Ryan, You never change.”
Then his tone tumed cruel. “Stealing what isn’t yours, then pretending to be the hero. How noble of you. And even worse–you silence the person whose treasure you took. That’s real cruelty.”
Before Ryan could respond, Leo pressed on.
“You know.. the man who helped me?” Leo drawled. “He told me something very interesting. Apparently, you stole his bride–his childhood bride, to be exact.“;
My breath hitched. “What does he mean by that?‘:
Leo chuckled darkly, sensing the shift. “Not only do you and my mysterious ally look alike, but–would you believe it?-you were meant to marry the same woman. Funny, isn’t it? Lucy. Or should I say Jocelyn now?”
My pupils trembled
Ryan’s silence was deafening
Leo sighed dramatically “Ah, that guy did say one more thing, actually.”
Ryan’s entire body tensed
both
Leo’s smirk was audible through the call. “He said, if you really want to know who helped me. you should check the security footage from the hotel where Jocelyn slept last night in the US:”
A sharp chill ran down my spine.l

Leo’s voice turned mockingly sweet. “Now I finally understand why was sick the next day. Poor thing drank too much at the club… and had to be camed back to a hotel.””
My stomach twisted
Leo laughed coldly. “And guess who helped her? The same man helping me now.”
Ryan snapped. “You bastard!”
Leo simply chuckled. Tsk, tsk. Touchy, aren’t we? Well, since you’ve so graciously declared war on me, I suppose I’ll have to retaliate.”
Ryan’s voice was lethal. “Mark my words, Leo–I won’t let you off this time”
“Good.” Leo’s amusement never wavered, “I’ll be waiting.
The line went dead.
I barely had time to process what had just happened when a ping echoed through the room. A message from an unknown number!! My hands trembled as I opened it, since inside was a simple warning letter [Don’t trust Ryan.
