That was how Marley and I somehow ended up together.
I was 25 years old, and at an age where I was feeling the most helpless, I met someone whom I dearly wanted to protect.
It was only then that I knew love could be so romantic
Every day, Marley would wait for me at my classroom door as soon as he got off his last class. Then, he would hold me by my hand and take me to my favorite restaurant next to college for lunch.
On weekends, I would be busy with my part–time job, but Marley wouldn’t bother me at work because he knew that I needed my personal space as well.
However, other than at my part–time job, Marley would stick to me all day and night like a clingy koala
bear.
As a result, there was no way we could even try to hide our relationship from my landlord–his parents.
Every time his mother, Marie Anton, looked at me, I could tell that she wanted to say something, but then, she’d think better of it and keep quiet.
However, when I was about to sneak out on a date with Marley one day, Marie finally voiced out her concerns, “Uh, Luna, please be more mindful of yourselves when you’re out dating.”
I immediately blushed, but Marley just said loudly, “What are you talking about, Mom? I’m just going to extra classes with Luna.”
“Extra classes?” I echoed, looking at him curiously. “What sort of extra classes? The private kind with only Professor Marley and me?”
“Just Marley and you,” he affirmed, playfully fluttering his eyelashes at me.
I didn’t know what to say in response. All I knew was that I was probably going to be stuck with him for the rest of my life.
However, things wouldn’t stay peaceful and mundane for long. Soon, I ran into my first massive problem–money.
Although Marley kept telling me that I didn’t have to worry about it, I still told him seriously, “Marley, I want to have an equal relationship with you. I don’t want to have to rely on you and leech off of you in this relationship.”
